A police asset was gunned down by an unidentified gunman in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City on Monday night.

Jose Yu, 52, was found dead with several gunshot wounds in the body at the side of the road in MJ Cuenco Avenue.

Police said Yu was active in helping police in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Yu was walking home to sitio Estacionan when he was waylaid by three men who waited for him by the roadside.

Three empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol were recovered in the crime scene.

Police said no one was able to identify the assailants since the shooting happened in a dark area.
