A PEDICAB driver in Manila was shot dead on Wednesday evening by a co-worker. Darren Villanueva, 18, a resident of Pintong Bato Street in Malate, was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors at Ospital ng Maynila from a gunshot wound in the body. Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) said they were looking for the victim’s attacker, identified as Imber Jaurique, who managed to escape. MPD Station 9 commander Superintendent Frumencio Bernal III said that before the victim was killed, he and his attacker fought over an old grudge. The victim defeated Jaurique when he managed to get hold of a piece of wood which he used to beat up the latter. Jaurique ran away and the victim thought the fight was over but the former came back and shot him.—Jeannette I. Andrade
