MANILA – A passenger was wounded after refusing to give his laptop to armed robbers inside a bus travelling along EDSA’s southbound lane Monday morning.
At least six robbers armed with knives and ice picks boarded the bus at Shaw Boulevard and declared a robbery when it reached Boni at around 6 a.m.
One of the passengers refused to surrender his laptop, forcing one of the suspects to stab him in the shoulder. The still unidentified victim, who was rushed to Polymedic General Hospital, still lost his gadget to the suspects.
Another passenger, Dante Baccay, said he lost an envelope containing his passport and plane ticket to the robbers. Baccay was supposed to leave for Saudi Arabia today to go back to his work.
The rest of the passengers, meanwhile, lost their wallets and cellphones to the robbers.
After the robbery incident, the bus driver stopped by a parked police mobile and asked the help of two policemen.
However, the victims complained that the policemen just accompanied them to Mandaluyong Police Station instead of running after the suspects.
The victims said the suspects wore backpacks and appeared to be between the ages of 20 and 30. – report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
