An unidentified gunman shot dead a 49-year-old dentist in front of the victim’s young son in Pasay City Tuesday afternoon.

Police suspect robbery was not the motive behind the killing of Dr. Carlos Acuesta, as the valuables in his office were left intact, radio dzBB’s Rodil Vega reported.

The incident took place at about 1 p.m. in Acuesta’s office at Don Antonio Building at Arnaiz Avenue in Pasay City.

SPO3 Joel Landicho of the Pasay City police said Acuesta was rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital but it was too late for doctors to save him.

Initial investigation showed the suspect entered Acuesta’s office and shot him with a .45-caliber pistol. The report said Acuesta’s three-year-old son was in the office.

Police are not discounting the possibility of a grudge being the motive behind the shooting.

Tuesday’s shooting occurred amid a gun ban being enforced to minimize violence in the coming May 13 elections. — BM, GMA News
