A police officer conducting routine patrol was shot dead by an alleged drug pusher in Pasay City early Tuesday morning. SPO1 Jesus Tizon, 40, assigned at the Pasay Police Community Precinct 7, and resident of Blk 7 Lot 9 Phase 1 Dorado St., Felizana Estate Subdivision, Imus, Cavite was rushed to the San Juan De Dios Hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival with multiple gunshot wounds in the body. Pasay police investigator SPO1 Genomar Geraldino said the incident took place at 1:49 a.m. on Apelo Cruz St. while the victim and some members of the PCP-7 were scouring alleys in the area. PO1 Esmael Gadia said they were going to Apelo Cruz Street when the victim got separated from the group. Minutes later, several gunshots were heard and when they rushed to the area they found the victim in a pool of blood, his service pistol and wallet missing. Gadia and PO2 Walter Alano were told by the victim that his assailant was an “alias Punggoy,” later identified as Danilo dela Paz Jr. a resident of Apelo Cruz Street. Members of the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section led by Chief Insp. Joey Goforth conducted a follow-up operation and were able to locate the house of Dela Paz but he eluded arrest. Police recovered from the suspect’s house five transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, drug paraphernalias, assorted ID’s under different names, a caliber .45 pistol and several ammunition of different firearms.
