THREE notorious drug traffickers in the Bicol region were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency after they tried to sell some 55 grams of shabu worth P330,000 to an undercover officer in Daet, Camarines Norte Thursday, a report to PDEA chair, Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. said yesterday.

The suspects were identified as Arnulfo Chan  alias “Anong,” a 55-year old mining financier from Purok 6, Barangay Parang, Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte; Edwin Verzo,39, of Purok 1, Bgy. Daguit, Labo municipality and Manuel Pingol,29, a mining supervisor from Purok 4, also in Bgy, Daguit.

Chan, reportedly in in the “watch list” of the PDEA Regional Office 5 together with two other suspects, is said to be involved in illegal drug activities in Daet and other neighboring municipalities.

PDEA Regional Office 5 head Director Archie Grande said the three were arrested while conspiring to sell a plastic packet containing shabu to a poseur near the Daet Cathedral in Bgy. Gahonon.

The suspects also yielded five pieces of marked P500 bills paid to them by the undercover officer.

A motorcycle the victims used to transport the drugs was also impounded by the PDEA officers.

Grande said the suspects will face drug charges, which is punishable by life imprisonment and carries a fine of P500,000 to as much as P10 million under RA 9165.
