SAN MANUEL, Tarlac – A woman died after she was hit by a stray bullet during a shootout bet-ween her relative and two other men that also left one of the suspects dead in Barangay Salcedo, police said yesterday.
Victim Leah Tabugan, 29, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Polymedic Hospital in Villasis, Pangasinan while suspect Bueno Cabacungan, of Umi-ngan, Pangasinan, died while being rushed to the hospital. Police identified the other suspect as Anacleto Cabacungan. Case officer PO2 Joven Macaraeg said the Cabacungans stormed the house of Quirino Tabugan, 55, and challenged him to a duel. However, before Tabugan could even accept the challenge, the Cabacungans reportedly fired at him. Tabugan was able to return fire, however, Leah was hit by a bullet coming from the suspects’ firearms. Police arrested Anacleto and brought him to the Tarlac Provincial Crime Laboratory for paraffin test. Investigators believed that an old grudge was the motive for the attack. |
