NUEVA ECIJA, Philippines—Vice Mayor Luisito Caraang was shot and killed by two men as he was about to enter his house at Barangay San Casimiro in Licab town in this province on Saturday morning.

Senior Superintendent Roberto Aliggayu, Nueva Ecija police director, said Caraang, who was serving his first term as vice mayor, had just finished jogging when he was attacked at 5:10 a.m. The gunmen fled on a motorcycle.

Aliggayu said Caraang was taken to the Premiere General Hospital here but died while undergoing treatment.
