AN agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was killed while four colleagues were wounded after suspected members of a drug syndicate shot them when they attempted to serve the arrest warrant of their alleged leader in Caloocan City yesterday morning.
Investigators said agent Larry Sultan succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. The suspects remain unidentified.
His colleagues, whose identities are still being withheld, sustained bullet wounds in the body and were brought to Far Eastern University (FEU).
A report said some 40 NBI agents were dispatched to serve the arrest warrant of Aslani Romurus, alias “Niknik,” of King Arthur St., Bgy. 188, Tala, Phase 12, at around 5:30 a.m.
Team leader Roland Fernandez said they came in force to ensure positive results.
“May info na rin kasi sila na maraming alagad si Romorus sa lugar na pwedeng umalma ’pag kinuha nila ito,” an investigator said.
However, as they approached the place, the group failed to serve Romorus’ warrant as they were already riddled with bullets.
The agents were forced to backtrack when Sultan was killed and his colleagues were wounded.
Sources said the place is notorious for illegal drug trade.
