A MEMBER of the Manila Police District (MPD) was wounded while responding to a carnapping incident in Tondo, Manila early yesterday morning.      

Senior Insp. William Santos of the MPD-Station 2 Police Community Precinct, was hit in the right thigh which went through to his left thigh.

Investigation showed that the incident took place at around 3:30 a.m. along Masangkay Street near Estero de Magdalena  in Tondo.        

Prior to that, Santos reportedly responded to a report received by their office regarding on ongoing carnapping incident in the said area.   Santos reportedly brought some of his men with him and went straight to the area, but the cops were allegedly met with a volley of gunfire, hitting Santos in the process.

A follow-up operation is reportedly being conducted to have the suspect or suspects arrested.
