A PROVINCIAL bus driver was wounded after a man driving an L-300 van shot him at least five times during a traffic altercation in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday night.
The shooting took place during rush hour on the northbound lane of Edsa in front of SM Megamall.
Senior Supt. Carlos de Sagun, Mandaluyong police chief, said Jeric Dacanay, 33, the driver of a Five Star bus line, got involved in a heated argument with the still identified driver of a white L-300 van (NLI 447) after both of them refused to give way to each other.
The van driver then took out a cal. .45 pistol and shot repeatedly at the victim and the bus before fleeing.
Dacanay was taken to Quirino Memorial Hospital for treatment. None of the bus passengers was hurt.
Dacanay and the bus conductor said the van had markings on the side which read Rhiana’s Import and Export.
De Sagun said they were trying to verify whether there was a company under that name and if it had an employee who fits the victim’s description of his shooter.
He added that they were preparing to file frustrated homicide charges against the van driver with the Mandaluyong Prosecutor’s Office.
