MANILA, Philippines — A mother of a candidate for Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) chairman was stabbed during an argument in Cotabato City Monday, police reports reaching Camp Crame showed on Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Faidza Abdullah, who was stabbed by Hadji Racman Budi, a mother of a rival candidate.

The authorities said that the two women were arguing inside the room being used to canvas votes in Sero Central Elementary School in Mother Barangay (village) Rosary Height, Cotabato City, when the lights went off. Budi took this opportunity to stab Abdullah on the right eyebrow.

Abdullah was taken to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center while Budi fled.
