MANILA – A 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing since March 1 was found dead near the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) in Laguna on Thursday.
Authorities said the victim’s pants were pulled down and she didn’t have any underwear when her body was found in Villa Caringal, Barangay Tuntungin-Putho.
The pedicab driver who found the body is now in police custody and is considered a suspect in the girl’s death.
The victim’s sister said the pedicab driver told police that he dropped the victim near her home the night she went missing, and saw her hop on board another motorcycle with a man.
However, the victim’s sister said the driver’s statements are conflicting, leading them to suspect his involvement in the killing.
A police investigation was still ongoing, as of posting. — Report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
