A SECURITY guard was shot dead by two assailants on a motorcycle on Saturday night in Sucat, Muntinlupa City. Investigators said they were still trying to determine the motive for the killing of Estanislao Bassig, 45, a resident of Makati City. The victim was walking on the East Service Road when two men on a motorcycle passed by and shot him. Bassig was brought to the hospital by bystanders but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Last week, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) mobilized the Motorized Anti Street Crime Operatives team composed of police officers on motorcycles to ensure their speedy response to crimes carried out by men riding tandem on motorcycles. NCRPO director Chief Supt. Nicanor Bartolome said that police officials who failed to go after these criminals would be sacked. Miko Morelos
