CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The decomposing body of an alleged police officer was found dumped alongside Macapagal Drive in Cagayan de Oro City Wednesday morning.
Police Senior Supt. Graciano Mijares, head of the Cagayan de Oro Police, said that investigators recovered an identification card of the victim as PO1 Junel Mangundadatu y Guro, of Osmena St., Marawi City.
He said the victim had a wound on the head from an unknown object. “An autopsy of the body would determine the exact cause of the victim’s death,” Mijares added.
Mijares, however, said that the police was still verifying whether the victim was a real police officer as PO1 Junel Mangundadatu did not appear on the rolls of police officers in Region 10 and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
He said police investigators suspect the victim was killed elsewhere before the body was dumped alongside of Macapagal Drive here.
The personal belongings of the victim appeared to be intact although no service firearm was recovered at the crime scene, Mijares said. (PNA)
