A man was mauled and stabbed dead in front of his son by a group of men in Quezon City last Saturday night.

SPO3 Leonardo Pasco, chief investigator of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD-CIDU), identified the victim as construction worker Rozel Michael Javier, 38, a resident of No. 069-A Sto. Niño St., Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City.

Javier sustained multiple stab wounds in the body and died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday while being treated at the East Avenue Medical Center.

Pasco said that the suspect in the stabbing remains at large and was identified as tricycle driver Noel Cutamora, 32, a resident of MRB Compound, Pilot Area, Barangay Commonwealth.

Meanwhile, Pasco said that police has in custody three other persons who mauled the victim and were identified as Cutamora’s younger brothers John Bert, 21, and Jayker, 28, and their friend, Roland Gumopas, 27.

The investigator said that barangay officials arrested the suspects that same night in the MRB Compound after the victim’s son, Kerbie Keith, 17, positively identified the three as the persons who beat up his father at around 9 p.m.

Prior the incident, Kerbie said that he and his father were at an eatery in the area along with the group of suspects.

While waiting for their order, the victim told his son that they should leave since he sensed something bad from the suspects who were staring at them.

When the father and son left, the suspects also got up and followed them.
