A jobless man who was shot, allegedly by his friend over a misunderstanding, at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Brgy. 3, Bacolod City, is now in critical condition.
Senior Police Officer 1 Dante Victor Escorpion, case investigator, identified the victim as Geory Adeva, 44, of Bangga Totong 1 in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod.
The suspect identified as Ryan Barcoma, 24, of Brgy. Tiglawigan in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, evaded arrest, bringing with him the gun allegedly used in shooting Adeva, Escorpion said.
Investigation showed that Barcoma and Adeva were on their way home from the house of their other friend in Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod City, when they argued.
A witness said Barcoma shot Adeva five times, while the victim managed to draw his bladed weapon and stab the suspect.
Adeva sustained gunshot wounds on the head and stomach and is now confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
Escorpion said a manhunt operation is ongoing for Barcoma, who has just been released from jail for theft charges.*APN
