MANILA, Philippines—A man whose job was to collect payments for painting was shot dead Friday afternoon in Quezon City right after making his rounds of a regular client.

Police, however, have yet to identify or catch the assailant who shot and killed Daniel Rondero, 27, a resident of Valenzuela City.

Rondero was shot in front of the house at 388 Liwanag St. in Brgy Matandang Balara in Quezon City.

Reports reaching the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit showed that Rondero worked as a cash collector for his boss, who sells paintings.

At the time of the shooting, Rondero had just finished collecting P150 from Clodualdo Gamalo for a painting he had just bought.

Gamalo said he went back to his house’s kitchen to finish cooking and left Rondero outside the house.

Moments later, Gamalo heard two gun shots, prompting him to open his front door. Gamalo saw the victim lying near his gate with blood oozing from the head.

Fearful for his life, Gamalo ran out of his house while his neighbors called police for help.

Police recovered two empty shells from the crime scene. Rondero died on the spot.
