MANILA, Philippines – A businesswoman was killed after a still unidentified man shot her in the head as she was walking near her house in Quezon City on Saturday night, a police report said.
Investigators said they had yet to establish the motive for the killing of Regina Morilla, 49, a resident of Barangay Gulod in Novaliches, Quezon City.
Police Officer 2 Norlan Margallo of the Quezon City Police District’s homicide section said Morilla was shot once in the back of the head with the bullet exiting through the left side of her forehead.
Margallo said the victim died on the spot, just a few steps away from her house. The shooting took place at around 7:30 p.m. at Villareal corner Victoria Streets in Barangay Gulod.
The investigator said witnesses described the gunman as about 5’9”-tall. He wore a white T-shirt, a pair of denim jeans and a ball cap.
Witnesses also told the police that the gunman waited for Morilla to appear, tailed her and then shot her.
He then casually walked away although he fired several shots at several bystanders who tried to go after him, the witnesses added.
