MANILA, Philippines – A man was shot dead while his companions were injured after unidentified suspects fired at them Monday in Buguey town, Cagayan, police reports reaching Camp Crame showed Tuesday.

The report indicated that the victims Danilo Ugale, Banny Basal Sr, and Joel Cariño were at a party in a former village captain’s home in Villa Gracia when the shooting occurred.

Provincial police reported that the victims were rushed to Toran District Hospital but Ugale was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

There is an ongoing investigation to determine the motive and identities of the suspects, according to Buguey police.
