A 29-YEAR-OLD woman is in critical condition after she resisted a rape attempt  the other day in Surigao del Norte.

Janet, not her real name, was  rushed to the Kitcharao District Hospital due to a hack wound in the chest.

Police are hunting down the suspect identified as Dodong Estorya.

Police Regional Office-13 spokesman Supt. Martin Gamba said the victim was sleeping inside her bedroom in Bgy. San Juan, Alegria town when she was awakened when someone touched her private part and tried to undress her around 2 a.m. last Thursday.

Before Janet could ask for help, the suspect hacked her in the chest and fled.

Recovered from the crime scene were a bolo, an improvised gun,   short pants and briefs owned by the suspect.                            Zaida delos Reyes-Palanca
