A 36-year-old man was hacked to death by his father-in-law at Purok Trese, Barangay Pisa-an, Dinas, Zamboanga Del Sur last week.
Killed was Efren Fernandez y Biñan, married. He sustained hack wounds on the left side of his leg and was rushed to the Chavez Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.
The assailant surrendered to the barangay chairman of Barangay Codilog and was later turned over to the Dimataling Municipal Police Station.
Police investigation disclosed that Fernandez who was under the influence of liquor and armed with a .38 cal. revolver had created “trouble” inside the house of his parents in law.
He pointed his gun towards his parents in law and then squeezed the trigger. Luckily it did not fire. He then whipped his mother-in-law with the revolver and hit her on the left side of the body causing her to fall on the floor. Upon seeing his wife being manhandled by Fernandez, the father-in-law grabbed a bolo and hacked him several times.
The bolo and Fernandez’ revolver were turned over to the police.
