A 37-year-old man was shot and wounded at dawn yesterday in the latest of a spate of shooting incidents in the violence-prone barangay of Mampang, this city.
A police report disclosed that Alan Arroyo was attending a wake at Galvez Drive, Mampang when a gunman crept from the dark and opened fire on him.
Arroyo sustained bullet wounds in the back of the body and was brought to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment
Initial investigation disclosed that Arroyo was shot at close range, and according to witnesses, the gunman disappeared undercover of darkness.
The Tetuan police have launched amanhunt operation to get the gunman.
City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin Deocampo disclosed that police investigators are working hard to solve the shooting incidents in Mampang.
Deocampo said investigators are gathering more information to unmask the perpetrators of the killings and send them to jail the soonest.
The spate of shootings in Mampang began last year as a result of a feud between two families. Authorities had initiated a truce and it was reported the feud have been settled afterwards. However, this year, more shootings took place in that barangay.
Last Tuesday night, a jeepney driver Manuel Cristobal was shot dead. Several minutes later, Alrasheed Arani.
Responding to the two incidents, soldiers went on foot patrol but were fired upon by gunmen. Two were wounded.
Months earlier, shooting incidents took place in the same barangay.
