DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A Maguindanao town vice mayor was shot dead here on Sunday morning. 

Vice Mayor Alexander Tomawis of Barira town in Maguindanao was killed by gunmen outside his rented apartment in Hill Drive, Bajada, Buhangin District in Davao City.

Superintendent Querubin Manalang, spokesperson of the regional police command, said that at 10:45 a.m., two suspects, pretending to ask Tomawis to sign a document, shot the latter in the head with a handgun. 

Tomawis, who was then with his security escort, died on the way to the Davao Doctors’ Hospital. Jeffrey M. Tupas, Inquirer Mindanao
