MANILA – A supporter of the Liberal Party’s candidate for governor of Occidental Mindoro was shot dead on Thursday, police said.

The victim, identified as Luzviminda Gaudier, was shot dead in front of the house of Vice Gov. Mario Gene Mendiola at the corner of Leuterio and Burgos streets in Barangay Pag-asa, San Jose town.

The suspect fled the scene on board a motorcycle.

Senior Inspector Danilo Dris, chief of San Jose Police, said they have yet to determine whether the killing was politically motivated.

Mendiola is running for governor in the upcoming elections under the Liberal Party. – report from Edwin Sevidal, dzMM
