A 65-year-old man was stabbed dead the other night by a tenant whom he had asked to leave his rented room in Sampaloc, Manila.    

Victim Ernesto Rabasto, of  2322 Luzon Avenue,  Sampaloc,  Manila, did not make it to the hospital alive due to stab wounds in the body. 

The suspect, identified as Alejandro Acuin, 43,  a taxi driver, was arrested and had been charged accordingly.

PO3 Rodel Benitez of the Manila Police District -homicide section said the incident took place at around 11 p.m. in front of a compound located at the corner of Luzon and Batanes Streets in Sampaloc, Manila. 

Investigation showed that the victim and the suspect were even having a drinking session before the incident. In the middle of the drinking spree, Rabasto reportedly reminded the suspect that he had to leave his room because he (Rabasto) would use the said room for another purpose. 

This angered the suspect until he took out a knife and with it stabbed the victim several times.

It was learned that the suspect had been renting one of the rooms in the apartment owned by the victim, for a measly Php1,000 per month.  Itchie G. Cabayan
