Superintendent Saiben Akmad, chief of the anti-vice and investigation division of the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police Office, identified the victims as Peter Peralta, candidate for board member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in Sultan Kudarat under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), and his son Feljavar.
Akmad said the Honda CR-V driven by Feljavar was already at the entrance gate of the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Capitol Complex in Barangay Kalawag in Isulan town when fired at by three motorcycle-riding men about 1:30 p.m.
The suspects first hit the driver, and then shot Peralta many times in different parts of his body, Akmad added.
Although wounded, Feljavar was able to escape and headed toward the headquarters of the Regional Police Mobile Service Center in nearby Tacurong City, also in Sultan Kudarat.
Policemen manning the area rushed the victims to the nearby Sultan Kudarat Doctors Hospital in Tacurong City. Both father and son were declared dead-on-arrival.
Police hinted the killing could be politically-motivated.
Peralta, based on the latest tally, is on the third slot. — Malu Manar/RSJ/LBG, GMANews.TV
