MANILA – A barangay councilor of Lipa City, Batangas died after being shot by riding-in-tandem gunmen Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, 43-year-old Brixio Almaria, was having his car fixed in Barangay San Sebastian when he was shot multiple times by still unidentified suspects at around 2 p.m.

Almaria, the barangay councilor of Mabini, was brought to the Mary Mediatrix Hospital but passed away at around 3 p.m.

A bystander, Christopher Nacuja, was wounded by a stray bullet. He was also rushed to the hospital.

Police suspect jealousy as the motive behind the attack.
