BATANGAS CITY, Philippines—A 42-year-old businesswoman was shot dead inside her cellphone shop in Taal, Batangas Wednesday afternoon, police said Thursday.
Senior Superintendent Alberto Supapo, Batangas police director, said Lea Panganiban was sitting inside her store on Rizal St. in Barangay Halang when an unidentified man in a black jacket approached her and without any provocation shot her several times in the head using a .45-cal. pistol at around 3:40 p.m.
Panganiban suffered multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to the Our Lady of Caysasay Hospital in Lemery, Batangas for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Maribel Hernandez.
The suspected gunman fled on foot toward Petron Gasoline Station near the bridge at the Taal-Lemery boundary, where his owner-type jeep was parked. He then fled toward an unknown direction.
Recovered from the crime scene were three spent shells of .45-cal. pistol.
