Malacañang yesterday assured justice will be served to the two Jesus is Lord  female preachers who were raped and killed by two police officers in Batangas.

“Sisiguraduhin naman po natin na justice is delivered in the proper and appropriate manner,” Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said.

Valte reacted to calls of JIL spiritual director and international president Bro. Eddie C. Villanueva  demanding  Justice Secretary Leila de Lima for the speedy resolution of the case against PO3 Jose Rico Benitez and PO2 Mhelven Pagkaliwangan, both of the  mobile patrol unit of Balete police station in Batangas involved in the rape slay of JIL two female preachers.

A preliminary investigation has been set tomorrow, August 27, for the two policemen, who vehemently denied the accusations against them.

Chief Public Attorney Persida V. Rueda Acosta  said two counts of murder and two counts of rape were filed at the Provincial Prosecutors Office against Benitez and Pagkaliwangan.

Acosta, who assisted the relatives of the victims in filing the case, said Benitez and Pagkaliwangan were positively identified by witnesses as the alleged killers of the two preachers Adelaida Fabricante, 46, and Leonila Cafe, 48.

The findings of the re-autopsy by PAO in its  preliminary  forensic report issued by Dr. Erwin P. Erfe, director of the PAO Forensic Laboratory Center, showed the death was “intentional killing” with the cause of death as “craniocerebral injuries secondary to blunt trauma.”

An earlier report released by the Balete police said Fabricante and Cafe were victims of a hit-and-run, when their bodies were found sprawled dead on the road in Barangay Makina last August 6 around 8:30 p.m.

However, Balete Mayor Jovencio Hidalgo ordered a reinvestigation of the case after thousands of residents in their town flocked in front of the municipal hall last week, condemning the brutal death of Fabricante and Cafe.

Hidalgo added the two victims just came from a JIL prayer meeting in Barangay Magape when they decided to take a ride in police car going to their respective barangays.

The  two suspects have already been disarmed and confined at Camp Miguel Malvar in Batangas City.
