January 22, 2013 10:54pm 0 13 0 14 An Isabela province town mayor was shot dead near an apartelle in Quezon City Tuesday night, as police arrested one of the suspects in the killing. Shot dead was Maconacon town mayor Erlinda Domingo, while her driver, initially identified as Bernard Lazo, was wounded, radio dzBB’s Denver Trinidad reported. The incident occurred past 8 p.m. near the Park Villa Apartelle at Examiner Avenue in Quezon City. Lazo was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment. Quezon City police chief Senior Superintendent Richard Albano said that they have arrested a suspect initially identified as Flores Pahinado, who was arrested at a construction site near the Park Villa Apartelle. Citing reports reaching him, he said the suspect had walked away from the crime scene but was caught at a checkpoint. However, police believe three to four people may have been involved in the killing. An initial investigation also showed a .45 cal. pistol was used in the killing. Meanwhile, a separate dzBB report quoted Isabela Governor Faustino Dy III as saying they saw no political motive since Domingo has no opponent in the May 2013 polls. — DVM, GMA News
