Adiel Andola, a 47-year-old resident of Magsaysay Street, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, was taken to alocal hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound following a scuffle with his arresting officers.

Initial reports showed that members of the PDEA Regional Office 6 under Director Paul Ledesma were in the process of arresting Andola past 4 p.m. last Tuesday at the corner of Rizal and Magsaysay Streets in Barotac Viejo after he sold a plastic sachet of shabu to an undercover officer.

However, the suspect resisted and pushed his motorcycle towards the anti-narcotics agents before trying to grab the weapon of one of the officers. Sensing imminent danger, another operative shot the suspect in the body.

The suspect yielded two more sachets of shabu and the marked money handed to him by the poseur.  He will face charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
