MANILA, Philippines – Bank robbers seized more than P1 million in cash in a daring bank heist in Jaro District, Iloilo City Friday morning.
Police said 2 men posing as depositors entered the Barotac Viejo Rural Bank at MV Hechanova past 9 a.m. The two then poked guns at the bank tellers and announced a holdup.
The two assailants handcuffed one of the bank employees before carting away more than P1 million in cash from the bank. A cashier said the two suspects were about 25 years old and had medium build.
Police launched a hot pursuit operation but failed to find the robbers who fled onboard a motorcycle.
Authorities have launched an investigation of the incident.
