MANILA — The police are preparing to file charges against the son of Mayor Arlene Torralba and Vice-Mayor Tom Torralba of Badoc, Ilocos Norte.

Topher Torralba was tagged as the suspect in a shooting incident in front of a disco bar in Laoag City early Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as Bobby Mercado, who sustained gunshot wounds in his thighs.

Torralba’s companion, Javier Magtoto, also sustained injuries.

According to investigators, Torralba and Mercado had a heated discussion. Torralba got angry when Mercado hit him with his helmet.

Torralba then went to his SUV, took his M-16 rifle and fired, injuring Mercado and Magtoto.

Mercado was immediately brought to the provincial hospital.

Torralba brought Magtoto to the hospital before escaping.

Authorities are still looking for the suspect, who was still at large as of posting. — with reports from Diane Dy, TV Patrol Ilocos
