SEVERAL lives were saved as an improvised explosive device placed in an establishment failed to explode due to a cellphone’s low battery in Isabela City, Basilan.

Authorities recovered the IED around 11:30 a.m. inside the New Mabuhay Trading owned by a certain James Tan in Bgy. Isabela Proper, Isabela City.

The IED was placed in a box with one unit of a Nokia cellular phone and small can wrapped with packing tape. The cellphone served as triggering device.    Zaida delos Reyes-Palanca
