A man mauled to death a suspect who tried to rape his wife inside their home in Quezon City Sunday night. Chief Insp. Benjamin Elenzano, chief of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), identified the fatality as Samuel Delantar, 43, who worked as a steelman and a resident of Quezon City. Elenzano said the suspect died on the spot following the attempted rape that took place Sunday night inside the home of security guard Egmidio Bautista, 48, located at Block 6 Ipi-ipit St., Kaingin 1, Barangay Pansol, Quezon City. The police official said Delantar suffered fatal head injuries after being hit with a lead pipe by Bautista. On the other hand, Bautista who is currently confined at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center suffered a stab wound in the body after being stabbed by Delantar. Elenzano learned that at around 7 p.m. Delantar managed to sneak into the house of Bautista and attempted to rape the guard’s wife, Aileen. Aileen managed to shout for help and caught the attention of her husband who was at that time chatting with his neighbor Fernando Placer outside the house. Egmidio immediately rushed inside his house but was met by Delantar who stabbed him in the body. The guard, who was already armed with a lead pipe, retaliated and repeatedly struck Delantar in the head. After Delantar fell, Aileen and Placer rushed Egmidio to the hospital. Prior to the attempted rape, Aileen revealed that Delantar had sexually molested her Saturday night. But the woman did not tell what happened Saturday night to her husband for fear what Egmidio would do.
