A 40-year-old helper died while a male toddler was wounded when a man fired at the former during his son’s birthday party in Binondo, Manila yesterday.
Dead from a lone gunshot wound in the chest was Reynaldo Salindao, of Gate 56 Area-H Parola Compound, Binondo.
Meanwhile, Aloysius Domnil, aged three and who happens to be the victim’s neighbor, was hit while playing with friends near the fatality’s home.
The suspect, a certain alias ‘Joel Waray,’ escaped, bringing with him the cal. 9 mm pistol he used in the shooting incident. He is now being hunted down by the police.
A probe made by SPO1 Christian Caparas of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said that at around 12 noon yesterday, the victim was having a drinking session with friends to celebrate his son’s birthday when the suspect arrived and confronted the victim for still unknown reasons.
The victim and the suspect then had a heated verbal exchange until the suspect drew a gun and shot the victim pointblank.
The bullet went through and through, hitting Domnil.
Meanwhile, a Makati cop is now in critical condition after being shot in the neck and chest the other night in Tondo, Manila allegedly by a neighbor.
Currently under observation at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Mary Johnston Hospital is PO2 Rory Jay Fernandez, 41, a policeman assigned at the Southern Police District and residing at Gate 2 Parola Compound in Tondo.
The suspect, a certain alias ‘Roland’ and said to be a neighbor of the victim’s was identified by witnesses at the one who shot the cop. Itchie G. Cabayan
