A man died while two others were wounded in hacking attacks in southern and western Cebu over the weekend.
In Pinamungahan town in western Cebu, a farmer hacked dead a man who attacked him inside his home last Sunday.
Rogelio TabaƱag, of barangay Tahaw, sustained a stab wound in his stomach and arm.
He died before reaching the hospital.
Estanislao Manlangit, who was arrested after the attack, claimed that Tabanag attacked him with a piece of wood when he entered his house.
He said he pulled out his bolo to defend himself.
He was detained at the police station pending the filing of charges.
Last Satuday, in barangay Cansolo-ay, Oslob, southern Cebu, a 40-year-old man was hacked and wounded by his brother after an argument during a drinking spree.
Jaime Licayan suffered a hack wound in the back after his brother, Joseph Jumalon at 4 p.m.
At 8 p.m. also last Saturday, a farmer attacked and wounded a neighbor after a heated argument during a drinking spree in barangay Calagasan, Argao, southern Cebu.
The farmer, Modesto Villaces, fled after the attack. The victim Eldefonso Llego suffered a hack wounds in the body and was rushed to the hospital for treatment./Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito
