MANILA, Philippines — A supporter of a mayoralty candidate in Taguig City was shot dead by an unidentified gunman Friday afternoon, police said.

The victim was identified as 40-year-old Jeff Minglana, a known supporter of mayoralty candidate Rica Tinga.

Initial investigation showed that Minglana was on board his motorcycle and was on his way home when he was suddenly shot in front of the Heaven’s Door Academy along A. Bonifacio in Barangay Upper Bicutan at around 5:10 p.m.

He was rushed to Taguig Pateros District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the crime scene were three empty shells and two slugs.

Meanwhile, Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano has sent her condolences to the family of the victim, who she said was a personnel in the city government. — Report from Bettina Magsaysay, ABS-CBN News
