MANILA, Philippines – A security guard was killed while two others were seriously injured in an attack by at least two unidentified gunmen riding tandem on a motorcycle late Sunday afternoon at the gate of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) offices on Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.

Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, QCPD homicide investigation chief, identified the fatality as Rizal Dolfo, 27, of the RJC Security Agency and deployed at the BAI, resident of 102 Rosal street, Barangay Old Capitol Site, Quezon City.

Dolfo was declared dead on arrival for gunshot wounds in the left face and right arm at the East Avenue Medical Center where the three guards were taken.

Injured were Dolfo’s colleagues at the security agency, Bejino Santos, 34, of Soldiers’ Village, Sta. Lucia, Pasig and Reynaldo Tumangue, 33, of Visayas Avenue, Barangay Vasra, QC.

Santos sustained gunshot wounds in the neck and right arm, while Tumangue was hit in the right face. Both are confined at the EAMC.

Motive for the attack is yet being determined by investigators. Witnesses at the crime scene described the hitman as wearing a bonnet over his face and the driver of the getaway vehicle as wearing a helmet.

The suspects fled after repeatedly firing several shots at the victims at close quarters. Records showed the guards were inside the guardhouse of the BAI offices on Visayas Avenue at around 5:45 p.m. when the gunmen attacked. – Jerry Botial
