MANILA – A 13-year-old female student was rushed to a hospital on Thursday after she was accidentally shot inside the Gen. Ricardo Papa Sr. Memorial High School in Taguig.
Authorities said the victim, Norhanna Geronimo, was shot with an improvised gun or “sumpak” by her 14-year-old cousin Jessie Geronimo inside the classroom.
The suspect was allegedly showing Geronimo the home-made firearm when it accidentally went off at around 9 a.m.
School officials said Geronimo’s cousin was able to sneak the gun into the school.
Police, meanwhile, said the suspect is a member of the gang Young Latino Crept and was carrying a firearm for protection.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. — Report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News
