AN EX-CONVICT and member of notorious Batang Mindanao (BM) 29 gang was shot to death by two motorcycle-riding men inside a videoke bar in Barangay Nazareth on Sunday evening.

Sonnyboy Balacuit, 24, a resident of Barangay Camaman-an, this city, succumbed to a gunshot wound in his head from a caliber .45 pistol.

The victim’s live-in partner, Josie Ebalang, confirmed that Balacuit was once detained at the Lumbia City Jail for snatching and was also member of the BM 29.

“Pero nag-drive naman siya og sikad paggawas niya sa prisohan ug nagtrabaho pud sa construction,” Ebalang said.

Chief Inspector Reynante Reyes, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (Cidu), said they are yet to establish the motive of Balacuit’s killing.

He said they looking into some angles such as personal grudge or revenge from one of his victims.

But Reyes dismissed the possibility that the killing was done by “vigilantes.” (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
