A robber was wounded after he was hit by a broken cabinet glass while fleeing in Mandaluyong City yesterday morning.

However, the suspect, identified as Salmer Costrua, 19, jobless, of 880 B-San Rafael St., Bgy. Plainview, Mandaluyong City, was captured by patrolling members of Bantay Bayan.

According to Michael Isidro, of Ilino St., Bgy. Verga, Mandaluyong City, around 1 p.m., he was manning the store when the suspect entered through the window.

“Nakita ko siya na dumaan sa bintana at mabilis niyang sinunggaban at tinangay ang dalawa naming cellphone sa tindahan na — isang Nokia E66-Php10,000 at Nokia Asha E200 (Php5,500) at cash na Php800 na benta ng tindahan,” Isidro told police.

The suspect hurriedly left, prompting Isidro to seek help from neighbors.

While fleeing, the suspect hit the cabinet glass. Although wounded, he ran away fast.

The victim chased the suspect until he met members of Bantay Bayan patrolling at the area and arrested the suspect.

The suspect was brought to the Mandaluyong City police facing appropriate charges.      Arlene Rivera
