A 26-year-old fisherman was stabbed dead by his friend in sitio Dunggoan, barangay Cawayan, Dalaguete town on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said jealousy was the apparent motive.

Richard Beltran, single and a resident of sitio Biasong, barangay Lanao in the same town was stabbed in the neck.

The suspect, Ericson Acedo, 41, is married and reportedly got upset after learning that his wife had intimate relations with Beltran that morning.

Acedo had a drinking sessions with Beltran on Tuesday, said PO2 Godofredo Glipa, Dalaguete police desk officer.

Aceda asked the fisherman not to go home since he was already drunk and invited him to sleep in their house instead.

Barili man shot dead

A 43-year-old wood gatherer was shot dead in his house in sitio Lantawan, barangay Malolos, Barili town.

Renato Semblante was shot in the right torso the other night.

Initial investigation of the Barili police station showed that about 7:55 p.m., Semblante together with Juanita Ababa, his live-in partner, were having a conversation when an unidentified perpetrator shot him once.

Semblante was hit in the right side of his body. The bullet exited through his left chest. . 

Semblante was rushed to the Barili district hospital but was already dead when doctors examined him.

No suspect has been identified.

Police are still trying to determine the motive for the violence.

Semblante’s remains lie in state at the Tupas Funeral Parlor in Carcar City./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
