BATANGAS CITY, Philippines—A 45-year-old fisherman and his son died when they were shot by unidentified armed men after they fished along the shoreline of Sitio (sub-village) Silangan, Barangay (village) Abung, San Juan, Batangas on Saturday morning, police said Sunday.

Senior Superintendent Alberto Supapo, Batangas police director, identified the victims as Luis Aguinaldo, 45, and his 23-year-old son Elmer.

Supapo said Aguinaldo was about to alight from his boat after fishing at about 6 a.m. Saturday, when a gunman approached him and shot him several times.

The hitm an also shot Elmer, who was waiting for his father.

Aguinaldo and his son died on the spot. The gunman fled after the killing.
