MANILA, Philippines—A Filipino-Chinese businessman was abducted by unidentified suspects in Maguindanao last week, reports reaching Camp Crame showed Monday.
Police identified the victim as Rodolfo Chio, a 75-year-old businessman who owns the Caltex Gasoline Station in Poblacion, Datu Piang, Maguindanao, where he was abducted by armed men Thursday afternoon.
Provincial police pursuing the suspects recovered the black Mitsubishi car with no license plates used in abducting Chio, in Barangay (village) Balanaken in Datu Piang, Maguindanao.
Authorities believe the suspects transferred Chio to a boat in Liguasan Marsh. They think the kidnappers may be headed toward Kabuntalan.
