A FAMILY of three was ambushed the other night by two men aboard a motorcycle in Tondo, Manila, killing one of them.

The woman died, the man was critically injured while their four-year-old son was unscathed.

Dead on the spot was Cherilyn Chua, a vendor, of 866 Claro M. Recto Avenue, Binondo, Manila. Her live-in partner Mark Mamaril, 28, is still fighting for his life in a hospital after taking a bullet each in the head and body. Their child, identified as Mark John, was unharmed.

The two male suspects, meanwhile, remain unidentified and were able to flee after the shooting. Bringing with them the 9mm pistols they used, the duo reportedly headed toward Road 10.

PO3 Ronald Gallo of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said that at around 10 p.m. the other night, the victims aboard a motorcycle were on their way home when the suspects fired at them at the corner of Moriones  and Franco  Streets in Tondo.

The live-in partners are said to be engaged in the business of selling ready-to-wear items along C.M. Recto Avenue.

Aside from the suspects’ identities, their motive for carrying out the crime is also unknown.
