DIGOS CITY , Philippines – Unidentified men shot dead a former Metro Manila police officer outside a cockpit here Friday, the police said on Saturday.

Davao del Sur police director Senior Superintendent Ronald dela Rosa said former Inspector Alan Jing Medina, 31, was at the parking area of the Altavista cockpit in Barangay Kiagot when one of two motorcycle-riding men shot him several times in the head and body. The suspects fled after the incident.

Medina, a resident of Roxas Extension here, faced some cases in Metro Manila, he said, without specifying the charges. Orlando B. Dinoy, Inquirer Mindanao
