MANILA, Philippines — A former barangay chairman in Lipa City, Batangas was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen Wednesday morning.

Police Supt. Christopher Birung, Lipa police chief, identified the victim as former Barangay Pinagkawitan Chairman Roger Maldunado.

Initial investigation showed that Maldunado was on his way to a barber shop when the suspects suddenly fired shots at him.

Police said the victim died from a gunshot wound to the head.
