A member of the Eastern Police District (EPD) was charged before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court for allegedly forcibly entering the house of his live-in partner.

Charged with violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004) was SPO1 Noel Castaneto, 48.

The case stemmed from the complaints of a 39-year-old non-government organization employee who claimed that the respondent forcibly entered her residence in Bgy. Botocan, QC, last March 16 by destroying the padlock of the gate.

It was learned that a Barangay Protection Order (BPO) has been issued against the respondent in connection with the earlier case filed by the complainant against him before the QC Prosecutor’s Office.

During the incident, the complainant claimed that she was hiding while Castaneto was banging the wall of her house since she was very afraid of him.

While the respondent was creating commotion, the complainant was able to get out through the terrace and sought assistance from the nearby Anonas Police Station.

Police quickly responded and tried to pacify the respondent police.

However, Castaneto allegedly threatened the policemen that he would open the LPG tank and have it exploded if they stopped him.

The officers arrested Castaneto and brought him to the police station.

During inquest proceedings, Prosecutor Edwin Valdez recommended the filing of charges against the respondent after finding probable cause to indict him in court.
